What if conservation and development in Africa were never in conflict, only made to seem that way? This webinar will explore the themes of ‘Bridging the dichotomy: Reimagining conservation and development in Africa‘, the third discussion paper in The Fifth Element series.

Drawing on Ubuntu, communal leadership and the wisdom of the continent’s own traditions, the paper argues that the tension between protecting nature and advancing human wellbeing is not inevitable, but the product of a colonial-era rupture. We’ll take a closer look at what an African-owned, regenerative model of progress could mean for policy, finance, youth leadership and governance across the continent.
