African Systemic Prosperity: Building from Strong, Resilient Communities

Join a critical roundtable discussion on the importance of Africa’s economic transition towards resilience, regeneration and prosperity on a healthy planet at the Ibrahim Governance Weekend (IGW). Africa can break free from colonial economic roles while addressing the climate crisis – by putting strong communities at the centre of systemic transformation. The panellists at this session are members of The Club of Rome and experts, who will debate and share their bold proposals for financing food sovereignty, renewable energy independence and habitability. The discussion will critique climate finance models, carbon markets and tech-enabled community development financing. We will explore how these strategies can eliminate structural deficits while creating prosperity across the continent.

Speakers:

  • Dr Mamphela Ramphele, Honorary President of The Club of Rome, co-founder of re-imagine SA and former Managing Director at the World Bank
  • Christopher Mbanefo, founder of OXÏ-ZEN Solutions LLC
  • Ken Alabi, co-founder of TóróNet

Moderator: Abdullahi Alim, CEO, Africa Future Fund

Date and time: 3 June 2025, from 14:00-15:30
